You may have noticed that England does not have the most consistent of weather and, with our busy lives, finding a suitable time to take outdoor photos can be difficult. To make this easier I try to be available at short notice so that we can make best use of weather opportunities.

This page shows my availability for up to 4 weeks in advance and the link on the left opens the Met Office website where you can find an up-to-date weather forecast for your area. If you have a date and time in mind (even if this is at short notice), please check that I am available and take a look at the weather forecast, then give me a call if you think that we could be successful.

A few things to remember (these are dealt with more fully here).

• Time of day - for portraits the best time of day is is when the sun is not directly overhead, so from an hour after sunrise to an hour before sunset, avoiding the 3-4 hours in the middle of the day.
• Weather - light or patchy cloud with light or no wind. Moderate cloud cover, light showers and light mist may be OK but avoid heavy showers, constant rain, moderate to high winds and fog.
• Weather is not so critical for action photos but avoid heavy rain, high winds and fog.
• Remember that to get the best from the shoot, you, the horse, tack, clothing and the area in which the photos are to be taken need to look good, so allow some time for preparation.
